This week, my Literature and Ethics in Public Health senior CP English course were lucky enough to meet nurse Kendall Galbraith. Nurse Galbraith works at the Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) as an acute care nurse in the Neuroscience Institute as well as working for law offices where she reviews medical records for life care planners and medical lawsuits. Students were interested in how she got her degree and her certificates (BSN, RN, CPN, PHN) and her choices to do pediatric nursing and acute care. Since my new class focuses on ethics, Nurse Galbraith also shared about the Ethics Committees at hospitals and shared when she had to advocate for a patient and call an ethics committee panel. There were lots of questions and interest from students as about half of my two classes want to enter the nursing field. This is part of the common unit all seniors English classes do with cover letter and resume writing as well as college application essays. If you would like to know more about this new course let me know!
